Permanent Cosmetics
1. What is permanent makeup?
Permanent cosmetics is a safe and natural-looking alternative to the expense and daily routine of applying makeup upon waking in the morning and often times throughout the day. It is a state-of-the-art technique of permanently applying makeup via intradermal micropigmentation. Properly applied by an experienced technician, permanent makeup will be more natural and realistic in appearance as compared to conventional cosmetics.

2. Is it safe?
YES -- Lynn Duncan-Madenberg, OTR, SMP, is a trained professional in the medical field with a Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health Professions. Lynn Duncan's Medical Director, David R. Madenberg, M.D. is Certified in Advanced Permanent Cosmetic Techniques. He is available at all times to answer your medical concerns in regard to permanent cosmetics before and after your procedure. They utilize a 100% single-use, disposable system for each procedure. Their methods of permanent cosmetic application are controlled, gentle and safe as they are expertly trained in both the traditional and hand-method (SofTap) applications.

3. Does it hurt?
Very little, if any, discomfort is experienced during the procedure. In fact, the great majority of our clients describe the sensation as a "'tickling" feeling. Dr. Madenberg, and his pharmacist, have formulated a very effective, full-strength, prescription topical anesthesia which is exclusively used for all of their permanent cosmetic procedures. Its numbing properties are unsurpassed -- however, if you prefer a dental block for a lip color procedure, they can also provide this service, as well.
4. Will it look "natural"?
YES -- It will look more natural than your own conventional make-up. Unless you tell somebody you've had it applied, they'll never know. Lynn uses "natural-looking" hair strokes for brows, with natural age-defying shapes. Lynn has been a makeup/makeover artist for over 20 years and specializes in "natural-looking" makeup.
Lynn's artist's eye will capture or create the natural beauty of her client.

Lynn is also currently a professional makeup artist and sponsor for contestants of the National Organization, "Beauties of America".

Her rich and creamy pigments create the most natural shades. Several different methods of permanent cosmetic application are often used during your procedure in order to provide you with the most beautiful results. You can choose between a very dramatic look or one that is soft, powdery and subtle, including the popularly sought-after "smudgy" look for eyeliner.

5. What is the healing period like?
Most of their clients are immediately able to return to work or their other daily activities immediately following their procedure without any embarrassment or discomfort. Their exclusive-blend of prescription-strength anesthesia prevents unsightly swelling and bleeding while providing a rapid, healing period for their clients.

For approximately 5-7 days following the procedure, you will need to apply a thin film of ointment to the procedure site. During this healing period, you will notice the color soften into your skin.

6. How many applications are needed?
Generally, two applications are needed in order to achieve full satisfaction with your desired look. However, many of our clients are fully satisfied with just one application. If a second application is desired, it is scheduled approximately 6 weeks after the initial procedure.
7. How will I know who is a qualified technician?
It's crucial that you thoroughly investigate the technician's work and experience prior to scheduling a permanent procedure. 8. Often, I have great difficulty applying my eyeliner. It usually ends up too thick or it ends up uneven. How will the permanent eyeliner look?
Truthfully, it will look sensational. A very conservative approach is used for those who are unsure of width or color. The second application may be used as an opportunity to add more fullness or color, if desired. Permanent make-up is applied very evenly and is incredibly precise and smooth.

9. How long does a procedure take?
Including the consultation, paperwork, and numbing time, the average length of time for one procedure is approximately 1-1/2 to 2 hours. The second application is usually l hour or less.
10. May I choose my own colors?
Definitely. Colors and shades are custom-blended to match your favorite pencils. However, should you later decide upon a different color, they can either lighten, darken, or even the change the color at that time. As experts in the field, a different color choice may be recommended, based on a personal color analysis. Although the final color choice is yours, they strongly recommend natural shades. With each procedure, only fresh pigments which contain safe, inorganic ingredients are used. Their rich and creamy pigments are of the highest quality and have an excellent reputation because they look so natural.

11. I'm allergic to most makeup, especially eye makeup. Will permanent makeup be safe for me?
Absolutely. Many women choose permanent eyeliner as the solution to their sensitive eyes. Say "good-bye" to watery, runny eyes and smeary makeup forever!

12. How much does a permanent procedure cost?
Their permanent cosmetic procedures generally range from 295.00 to 795.00. (Corrective procedures are generally more expensive, and are individually priced). Make absolutely certain that you understand price is actually one of the least important questions to ask in your search for a technician. A single, misplaced line may alter and detract from the beautiful features of your face.

Often, corrective work is very costly and requires extensive work. There is nothing more important than using extreme caution before selecting a technician. Make sure that she has many years of experience, because in this business, there is no margin for error, as she is permanently altering the appearance of your face.

13. What if I don't like the way it looks?
If the artist is truly experienced and focuses on a "natural" look, you will be very happy with the results. However, it is important to know that depending on the pigment used, not all permanent makeup can be removed with lasers, and is truly permanent.

14. How long does permanent makeup last?
Permanent cosmetics are permanent in that you will always have a permanent marking on your skin. However, over time, you will notice a gradual softening of color occuring each year. Many women feel that this is advantageous, as they feel that their permanent makeup will age with them.

"Color enhancements" are recommended for those who wish to keep their permanent makeup looking as fresh as possible. Generally, every 2-8 years or so, depending on color, individual body chemistry, and lifestyle. Pricing on color enhancements are greatly reduced, and individually assessed.
